A new favorite...

I recently had the privilege of photographing a family for the second time.  This sweet boy fell asleep on the way to our meeting place and we were afraid we weren't going to be able to get any good pictures of him...this one turned out to be my favorite of the whole session!

Wow, I can't believe I didn't post at all in October!  Well, these pictures are from Halloween, so that counts, doesn't it?

We had so much fun with this photo shoot!  The girls wanted to be characters from Alice in Wonderland for Halloween.  Once they started planning their outfits, they decided to get their friends in on it too.  Katie's friend, Grace, made the best Alice...

and set up the Mad Hatter's (a.k.a. Kinsey) tea party in the woods...

 

We even came across a stand-in for the white rabbit!

I've had so much fun doing these themed shoots the last couple of years (see Little Red Riding Hood from last year), that I think I'm going to advertise early for next Halloween so people can plan their costumes.  Let me know if you'd like to see your child in a fairy tale!

 

Caroline's Maternity Session

My friend, Caroline, is expecting her third precious little one and I had the opportunity to do a maternity session with her this afternoon.

We met at Jetton Park, which ended up being the perfect location for this shoot.

The light coming through the leaves of the trees was absolutely beautiful.

It was also the perfect time of day to get a silhouette of the baby bump!

Who knew there was a farm just outside our subdivision?  I sure didn't until I met Michelle and her family.

 

Michelle runs a horse rescue called "Follow My Dreams."  She had just gotten two darling white mini horses, which she asked me to photograph along with her adorable twin 2 1/2 year olds.

I took a ton of pictures, but here are a few of my favs:

I'm always looking for new locations to shoot, but sometimes I forgot to look close to home, like in my own backyard, or in this case - my neighbor's backyard.  I was "stuck" at home a couple of weeks ago while my truck was being worked on.   The lighting outside was just perfect for portraits, as it was trying to decide whether to rain or stay sunny.  Rain eventually won out, but for a few moments, the cloud cover was perfect and I was able to get some nice shots.

I hadn't realized my neighbors had done all this work in the patch of trees behind their house, and was quite pleased to find this great little spot to take pictures. 

And.. bonus!  The girls were bored that day and had been playing with each other's hair and make-up, so we were all set and ready to go!

School's Out!

I'm hoping now that school is out to do a better job of posting to my blog.  It's been a little neglected the past couple of months.

Here are some pics I took of Katie the other night.  She gave me a great Mother's Day present - coupons for a photo shoot.  Notice I said coupons (discounts, really), on what I would pay her to pose for me.  So very generous of her!  After all my photography classes, I think my kids have had their fill of posing for me!

Bunny Love

Bunny Love

Cotton came to live with us after Katie's guinea pig, Checkers died. 

Our neighbor's daughter had gotten Cotton while away at college and couldn't keep her, so they were trying to find her a home.  In an effort to cheer up Katie, we agreed to take her on, but it was short-lived.  She was a sweet bunny, but a lot of work to keep as an indoor pet.  She recently went to a good home, but I was able to have a photo shoot with her before she left.

We will miss you, Cotton!

New York, New York...

"New York, New York..."

My Grandma Rose passed away this Fall, leaving behind unexpected gifts for her grandchildren.  My husband insisted that I take a portion of my gift and use it for the sister trip to New York City that Julie and I had often talked about.  I think Grandma would have approved.  She loved to travel, see shows, go on cruises.  So, here's to you, Grandma Rose!
